Gift Giving
The tradition of giving gifts during Advent and at Christmas is rooted in gifts that the Magi gave to young Jesus. For centuries, Christians have exchanged gifts as a way of embodying Jesus’ teaching that it is better to give than receive (Acts 20:35).
At CPC, we have started the tradition of collecting a Christmas offering as a way of sacrificially giving to a ministry outside of our church AND a way of collectively giving a gift to one another within the church. This year, a portion of the Christmas offering will be used to support our sister church, New City Fellowship. As they have recently purchased their first meeting space, we have the opportunity to help them remodel and furnish the building. Below is a video that highlights New City’s campaign.
We also plan to use a portion of the offering to replace the chairs in the fellowship hall and adult classrooms. Our current chairs have been in service for 30+ years and are literally on their last legs. When we are able to meet again regularly, I believe everyone will appreciate new chairs.
Will you consider participating in the Christmas tradition of gift giving by giving to the Christmas offering? Our goal is $20,000 and we are trusting God for every dollar. Thank you in advance for your gift.
